About Us · Our Story
Carpeteria was built by a family that believed in hard work, honest service, and the idea that where you come from doesn't limit where you can go.
Where It Began
It started with three men who shared a vision — Kegham, Noubar, and Mel. A father and his two sons, they came from Jerusalem, settled in Los Angeles, and worked in the flooring industry before deciding it was time to build something of their own. Together, they made the move to San Diego, planted new roots, and founded Carpeteria.
They were entrepreneurial by nature and equal in their commitment. They saw an opportunity to bring something real to this community — quality products, honest guidance, and professional installations — and they built it together, side by side.
Those same principles are still at the heart of everything we do today.
The family arrives from Jerusalem and settles in Los Angeles, learning the flooring trade and laying the groundwork for something of their own.
The three co-founders move to San Diego, plant new roots, and open Carpeteria — built equally on the vision and conviction of a father and his two sons.
The business expands. The team grows, the reputation deepens, and Carpeteria becomes a trusted name in San Diego homes.
Through the Great Recession, a new generation steps in — starting with the small things others overlook, and refusing to give up.
Leadership passes to the third generation. The name on the door changes. The standard doesn't.
Third Generation Leadership
When the Great Recession hit, a new generation stepped in — not out of obligation, but out of love for what the family had built. Starting with the small things others overlook, the work began: chipping away, getting better, refusing to give up.
That resilience shaped a leadership philosophy rooted in humility, continuous learning, and an unshakable commitment to the people in the building — whether that's a customer walking through the door or a team member who's been here for years.
Today, Carpeteria is led with the same belief it was founded on: treat people the way you'd want to be treated, and never take the opportunity for granted.
I think my grandfather would be proud of what we've built — and exhilarated by the opportunity ahead.
